CHAMPION: UNIÓN SAN FELIPE. Amazing season for the champions – not only a provincial club won the title, but they were and are the only team to win back-to-back the Second Division and the First Division. Union San Felipe was promoted for the first time in 1970, won the title in their first top-league season and were the first champion not from Santiago de Chile since 1957. Historic success, alas only one.
