‘Some people believe that football is matter of life and death. I am very disappointed with that attitude, it is much, much more important than that.’ Bill Shankly

II Division. Because of enlargement of First Division for the next season – from 18 to 20 teams and the technical relegation of Rouen, 3 teams were promoted – the usual 2 top-positioned teams plus Stade Reims. Reims went up because Olympique Avignon was not financially strong enough to play top league football.

Cup: Club Brugge 6-1 Daring
FC Brugge received the Cup. Predictably, Second Division Daring lost the final. Would have been great if they won, alas, they were no match... FC Brugge won the Cup for the second time. Hard to believe today, but this was only 3rd trophy for the club at the time (1 title and 2 Cups).
