Peru II Division - Copa Peru

Second Division – Copa Peru. In this tournament after many qualification rounds, each one of the 24

departments in which Peru is politically divided, qualify a team. Those teams
plus the team relegated from First Division on the last year, enter in two more
rounds and finally 6 of them qualify for the Final round, staged in Lima. All depends on the standpoint: the records for 1971 should be 1970, unless Copa Peru was played before the First Division season started – the winners played in the 1971 top league season. If both competitions were played at the same time, such thing would not have been possible. And to confuse even more everything there was 'proper' Second Division, which winner was promoted to Campeonato Descentralizado in 1972.
