Moscow's captain Viktor Anichkin lifts the Cup.
Good season for Dinamo (Tbilisi), but they were unable to win the Cup. Strong squad with 5 players at the World Cup (Murtaz Khurtzilava, Revaz Dzodzuashvili, Kakhi Asatiani, Givi Nodia, and Slava Metreveli – who didn't play at the Soviet Cup final). Dinamo (Moscow) – the winners. Standing from left: A. Golodetz – assistant coach, K. Beskov – coach, L. Yashin, V. Smirnov, V. Utkin, V. Zykov, V. Shtapov, V. Illin – assistant coach. Crouching: A. Kosmynin – doctor, Yu. Semin, Yu. Avrutzky, V. Kozlov, V. Eshtrekov, G. Evryuzhikhin, V. Maslov, V. Anichkin.
Three of them went to Mexico – Yashin, Zykov, and Evryuzhikhin – but the team had enough good players and excellent coach to prevail over Dinamo (Tbilisi). This was the last trophy for Lev Yashin. Valery Maslov was not only football player – he was equally good, if not better, at bandy and successfully combined both sports on top level: football in summer; bandy in winter. Konstantin Beskov was already a leading coach, yet, really famous he will be years later with Spartak (Moscow). And Yury Semin will be better known as a coach rather than a player. The squad seemed transitional with few aging stars – Yashin, Anichkin, Avrutzky – but for the moment looked like there will be no problems in the future.
Dinamo (Moscow) failed to win the championship, but won their 4th Cup.
